Woodlands County and the Town of Whitecourt are in the process of reviewing the Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). This plan provides the County and Town with a long-term vision regarding land use and development.

PLANNING PROCESS
As part of the public participation process, an informational Open House was held on May 7, 2009 at Woodlands County Office to inform the public about the Intermunicipal Development Plan process. Feedback Forms were handed out and a brief question and answer period was held based on the information presented. This was the first opportunity to collect public opinion and concerns about the Plan area.
Based upon the information obtained from the first Open House and meetings with the municipalities, a second Open House was held to present the Draft IDP to the public on March 11, 2010. Information that was deemed imperative to the public such as land use, servicing, and densities was presented.
The Draft IDP is now prepared and ready for circulation. We invite the public to review the document and provide any comments prior to March 26, 2010.
Woodlands County council will be setting a public hearing date in April to give residents another opportunity to voice their concerns and give comments regarding the Intermunicipal Development Plan. A specific date has not been set yet but will be advertised on the County's website and in local newspapers.
