DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PLAN


Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the process of developing Blackfalds’s Downtown Revitalization Plan! This Plan has been adopted by the Town of Blackfalds’s Council and is now available on the municipal website.


The Town of Blackfalds has initiated a planning process aimed to create a Downtown Revitalization Plan for the Downtown Core; which will also be integrated with the Highway Commercial District along the East side of Highway 2A. The Revitalization Plan will be a comprehensive study addressing:


  • Existing natural and historic features;
  • Promotion and attraction of pedestrian friendly traffic;
  • Venues for community activities;
  • Social interaction for a variety of populations;
  • Determination of a theme and unique identity;
  • Promotion of future revitalization for surrounding areas.


This Revitalization Plan will create an action-oriented and implementable document; directing development and growth for the future of Blackfalds. It will also identify viable and sustainable opportunities for expanding the potential economic base and public realm within the Town of Blackfalds.

The success of this initiative will be achieved through an open and transparent public participation process that will meet the needs and desires of the Town of Blackfalds, local business owners, and the public. The public participation has been outlined below in Community Consultation.
