Drumheller, AB
Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Park, located in East Coulee near Drumheller, AB is an existing outdoor coal mining museum.
Through the Atlas Coal Mine Historical Society Mission Statement "To enhance appreciation for Alberta's Coal mining heritage, with emphasis on the Atlas Coal Mine and Drumheller Valley, through the preservation of, and interaction with, unique artifacts, buildings, stories and landscape," Stantec has been chosen to prepare a master plan for the entire site. Work will include complete building restorations, enhancement of the train ride, restoration and addition to the trail system, addition of an interpretive visitor centre and creation of various amenities.
Stantec aims to create a plan which will enhance the overall visitor experience by creating a safe, efficient and user friendly attraction.
